Finding the Ideal Drum Kit: A Guide for All Levels
When it comes to acoustic drums, finding the right kit that suits your needs and budget can be a challenge. In this guide, we’ll help you make an informed choice. For drummers who perform regularly, a more advanced kit is essential compared to what beginners typically use. Our line up includes cost-effective solutions for everyone – even for the youngest drummers.
MX Series: Ready for the Stage
For the aspiring or seasoned drummer looking to play live shows, the MX Series is our top pick. Remarkably for this price range, these kits are equipped with hybrid shells made from birch and poplar, delivering a warm and punchy tone. Thanks to their precise-cut 45° bearing edges, tuning is easy. A full brass cymbal set in standard sizes is included, too.
All MX kits come with double braced hardware including two boom cymbal stands and chain-driven pedals. The bass drum is fitted with wood hoops and padded claws, while the toms are mounted on ball joints for easy positioning. All lugs are mounted on plastic baseplates, ensuring optimal resonance. These are all features typically found in higher-priced kits.
The MX Series is available in two configurations. Both of them include a 14”x5.5” snare and two rack toms in 10” and 12”. The MX 420 studio adds a 20” bass drum and a 14” floor tom, while the MX 422 standard includes a larger 22” bass drum and a 16” floor tom – perfect for loud stages and rockier styles.
Focus Series: A Great Start for Beginners
If you’re a beginner looking for a drum kit that will give you a great sound without breaking the bank, the Focus Series is an excellent choice. You get everything you need to get started, including a small set of brass cymbals, complete hardware, a drum seat and a pair of sticks. A muffling cushion for the bass drum and sound control rings for the other drums are included as well.
The Focus Series is all about value without compromising on features. Crafted from poplar, these drums produce a warm, controlled tone. The Focus kits come with double braced hardware and even a free-floating tom mount – both premium features typically found in higher price ranges.
The Focus Series is available in three different configurations: Focus 18, Focus 20, and Focus 22. Much like the MX Series you can choose the size that fits your needs. There’s also a Focus Junior version, perfect for kids aged four to seven. Technically another product line, this smaller kit has been simplified to reduce cost.
Youngster Series: For Future Rock Stars
Our Youngster Series is designed to introduce children starting from the age of three to the world of drumming. The scaled-down kit consists of a bass drum, tom, and snare, along with specially designed low-noise cymbals – designed for the youngest future rock stars. If you want to start your child’s to drumming journey early, the Youngster Series is the perfect choice.
